Polzeath’s understandably popular, with its flat beach, shelter from winds and excellent surf. But, because the beach is a quarter of a mile wide (and, at low tide, nearly as deep from back to seafront) there’s plenty of space. There are pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants along the road leading directly to New Polzeath, easily walk-able along the sands at low tide.

Polzeath is one of the top destinations for surfing holidays in Cornwall due to its famous beach break and abundance of premium holiday accommodation. For the experienced surfer there are plenty of days where there is good surf onto a nice beach break. For beginners or the less experienced there are several surf schools (some operating in all seasons) and smaller waves. Even when the waves are big, the gently sloping, sandy beach ensures that there are always smaller waves to practice on nearer the shore.
Just a couple of minutes away is the small village of Trebetherick. It is here you will find Daymer Bay, the jewel in North Cornwall's crown. An excellent spot for swimming, windsurfing, boating or canoeing, this dog friendly wide sandy beach is much more sheltered than the beach at nearby Polzeath.
